Spring Break!

One little class left this evening between me and spring break. It's hard to believe it's already spring break and I know life will zip by after we are back at the end of March. What am I doing? This Spring Break I'm taking the train to San Francisco, then biking and camping my way down to Los Angeles. I've been wanting to do this for years!

So, tomorrow I pull out of the Denver Amtrak Union Station on the California Zephyr, heading West to San Francisco. I'm so excited to see the snow covered purple mountains. I'm serious, the mountains here at sunset are purple and beautiful. I have never seen this part of the country and I thought watching it pass by from a train window seemed proper for my modern frontier exploration. It's been a bit of a hustle to get my things packed and together. I still have to actually take apart (some of) the bike and pack it in this massive box. I'm a wee bit nervous now, but I'm sure it'll all work out. I'll learn a lot -- about bike touring, the country in which I live, and, of course, about myself.

An adventure I'm sure to remember!

I have been bad with le bloggie. I'm back! This is just a teaser... but break was fantastic. As were my few days here in Denver before class started. I'm off to my first class - starts in 10 minutes and I'm excited for the new semester. My last semester! I'm taking Evidence, International Business Transactions, and Community Economic Development. I have a job as a research assistant ... and plan to have a fantastic life (running, biking, reading, mountain-ing, dancing, eating, cooking, seeing friends, etc.). Visitors and co-conspirators welcome!

Off to class... and so it begins! Here we go! :)

the city

Been in the city a couple days, visiting Dr. Baby Brother. I feel like I should have been taking advantage of the city, but I haven't felt like doing much. I have fond memories of winter and Christmas time in the city. It seems a world away, now.

I feel a little sickie after all semester and the kiddos down in Philly. I've gone for runs around Central Park. I read a book last night. I took a nap. I cooked a lot for the skinny brother (three kinds of cookies, lasagna, veggies, salads, breakfasts, etc.). It's kind of nice to have anonymity and nothingness. Wish I could have seen more of the brother, the city, and other friends. I am seeing a friend tomorrow morning, so that will be lovely, before heading up (finally) to Boston.

I've returned east, to grey skies, humidity, and fast walkers. Had a lovely weekend in Baltimore with a friend - dinner, drinks, movie, runs, paper-writing. I'm closing in on the paper ("edits" and blueblook citations left). Right now I'm in Penn Sta. waiting for the train, which is of course late. Looking forward to time with Grandma and my sister and her husband. I'm inches away from true vacation...
