Boulder
In Boulder for dinner. So far a shoeless hippie is softly playing guitar on the park bench, I heard someone say "Wow, I think it's fate that brought us together tonight" and even the squirrels are super skinny. Oh, Boulder, you hyper-fit, hippie-town, you!

Garden of the Gods
This morning I drove down to Colorado Springs (about 1 1/2 hours south of Denver) to do a trail run at Garden of the Gods. When I arrived in CoSp, it was foggy, grey, and 41 degrees. I had been expecting 70s and sunny, as the news told me! I got another cup of coffee and a paper and waited it out until the fog burned off. Then I got my 70s and sunny weather.
Garden of the Gods is a park with red, blue, purple, and white ancient sediments of sandstones, conglomerates and limestone that were deposited horizontally, but now tilt vertically after being faulted by the same forces that caused Pikes Peak mountain. You can see many fossils in the rock: marine forms, plant fossils, and some dinosaur fossils. Some of the strange rock formations are up to several hundred feet long and the tallest is 320 feet high. Check out them rocks:

The trail run I did ended up being 1 hour 20 minutes of running around the park, not including time stopped to snap some photos, read the map, and wait for horseback riders to pass. I had a great time! Running was a really fun way to see the park and to get on some trails that were fantastic and empty. It seemed like most people drove the road loop around the rock formations, getting out of their car at numerous parking lots. These photos are just the scenic trial. Enjoy!

Back at it
I'm still resisting the countdown, but let's just say that my friend's gchat status says "Only 10 more weekends in Colorado." It's not so much that I want to leave Colorado. I do like a lot of things about Colorado, and think without this school business I could grow to really love the lifestyle out here. But, that's just it -- "without this school business." The countdown that I'm not doing is to the end of school. Graduating.
I will hopefully write up a long piece on the whole trip, but I feel very centered and calm after Spring Break. People around me are all flustered and crazy, but I feel a-okay. In fact, really good. I like it.
Some thoughts I've had (quickly, because I have to get work done) --
Welcome back to Bloody booger Colorado. Seriously, this place is so dry.
I bought my ticket to Korbel Prom. I'm not going to the law school prom ("Barrister's Ball"), but the grad school prom seemed like a deal: swank hotel downtown, $10 for drinks and apps. Why not? Hmm... what to wear?
Oh, ow, why are running muscles so different from biking ones? My heart and lungs could go forever but my legs are killing me! I don't know how Triathletes do it.
Made some granola the other night. It literally took 20 minutes and was delicious. And way cheaper than what you can buy at the store. Why have I not discovered this earlier!?

Estes Park

Alo, faithful readers!
Yesterday I got out to Estes Park for a hike with a friend. It was 65 degrees in Denver. A bit colder in the mountains, but still really nice. So windy, I was especially glad I picked up my shell instead of just my fleece. We could have used snowshoes, but decided to wing it and just hike in boots. Worked out great, minus a few falls in thigh-high snow, resulting in screams of snow-in-sock shock. We made it out to the lake in the photo above, chatted with some snowshoeing, older men who were super nice, and headed to Mountain Sun in Boulder for Stout and delicious food. Good fun!
Two photos for you all...
