Week Runs

Getting close to the end! All in all this was a pretty decent week for running. My motto lately have been "Easy days are supposed to be easy." So, even if my runs are crap on in between days, my tempo runs and track and long runs have all been good lately. So --

Sunday - 5 blaaah.

Monday - Track was good! The point wasn't to see how fast I could go at all. I just wanted to hit that efficient "this feels fresh" pace. Felt smooth. I was working, but hit that efficient feeling just at the brink of pushing too hard. I caught my breath quickly at the end of each and finished up feeling like I could have done more. It was also very dry and close to 80 degrees. Did it after class around 6 p.m.
4xmile with a 600 meter jog after each.

Tuesday - blah. Ran a new little route from school out to Ruby Hill. A fun little hill that's over just as it starts to hurt. Good to know this is a quick run NOT around the park. 7

Wednesday - Uh, so cold. It was snowing. I was wet and my gloves sucked. I did 12 in the dark. Tempo. Felt good and warm, except my hands. And, it wasn't just my fingers but my whole hands. Ow. Took me about 30 minutes to warm up enough to open my locker (to change into warm clothes). Seriously, my friend offered me her gloves, but my hands were so numb/dead-weight that I couldn't get them on. She couldn't get them on either! Finally, kindly, she warmed them up with her hand warmth. A true friend. 12.

Thursday - blah, again. Really didn't feel like running but did it anyway. As someone said, this sort of weather cuts the runners from the joggers. I barely saw anyone all week! Oh yeah, AND I fell on Washington Street again just a mere 4 blocks from home. Sigh. 8

Friday - 5 miles after work. Another new route I'm working out. I'm calling it the Faux Wash Park Loop because it's basically Wash Park, but a few streets over on either side so I can avoid the crowds. And, Race Street is super nice to run down. 5.

Saturday - Yay! Had a great long run! Felt like I coudl have gone longer, faster. I tried my new arm warmers. They're great, except I need a little body glide where the hit under my arms. I chafed a little yesterday, but that's okay. 18.

Total: 64

Also, I've been getting SUPER paranoid. I don't want to get sick. I don't want to twist an ankle. I don't want to run too hard, peak too soon, or run too much. Eep! Just playing it smart through this last hard week of training. Then tapering. Mu ha ha - wonderful, wonderful tapering.
